Davie Day 2007

We left the apartment this morning to visit the weekend market, and discovered that it’s also Davie Day in the West End of Vancouver.

On a warm, sunny September Saturday this was a charming happenstance, even if it was also a bit tedious.

One stretch of the street was being “entertained” by a recording of the Vancouver Men’s Chorus. I don’t have a problem with the group itself, but blaring any music through crappy speakers is bound to drive me insane.

When we arrived back home we realized that the crappy speaker, elevated on a speaker pole, was high enough in the air that it sounded like it was just outside our window. Oh joy.

On a more positive note, the Chorus was promoting their group with the help of “Queen Elizabeth”. Doesn’t she look great?
