UBC's first ever video game programming course · 26 April 2012, 13:16

The University of British Columbia has a great computer science program, but it hasn’t offered any instruction in video games. Until last semester. I write about the program in the Straight.

The University of British Columbia’s department of computer science hit a milestone this month when its first-ever course in programming video games wrapped up. The class, simply entitled Computer Science 319: Software Projects, was designed and taught by Kimberly Voll, an award-winning lecturer and full-time faculty member.

Voll also talked about the huge demand for software engineers.

It’s not just the video-game industry that’s scrambling to hire computer-science graduates. UBC lecturer Kimberly Voll says that all industries are suffering from the shortage.
