Managed and coordinated the development of two website implementation strategies for Arsenal Pulp Press. The first, in 1998, was the company's first Internet presence. The second, implemented in 2001, makes use of database and CSS techniques to maintain a comprehensive catalogue of book information, while being able to deliver that same information on the fly.
Acted as unpaid consultant to various independent book publishers on effective web implementation strategies.
Guest of WordFest, Banff-Calgary's international writers' festival, to participate in Books 'n Bytes, a discussion of how the Internet has changed the world of writing and publishing (October 12, 2001, Engineered Air Theatre, EPCOR Centre for the Arts, Calgary).
Participated in the effort by the Canadian book industry deal with issues in supply chain, and come up with strategies for innovation, including serving on the BookNet Canada advisory panel in the creation of bibliographic database standards, and delivering a presentation on the implementation of the strategy in smaller, independent book publishers.
Four years experience at Arsenal Pulp Press as managing editor, with responsibility for coordinating all facets relating to emerging book projects. This involved seasonal scheduling up to a year in advance and creating production schedules for everyone involved, ensuring that editorial was completed in a timely manner, working with designers and artists in the design phase, liaising with printing companies in the production process, and working with the sales force to ensure that finished books were placed in bookstores.
