I knew that Andrea Martin had been doing some voiceover work for Sesame Street, but I did not know that she had also brought to the happiest of urban streets her Mrs. Falbo character, from SCTV.

It’s true. Sesame Street’s Wanda the Word Fairy is the same Wanda Falbo who hosted SCTV’s Tiny Town. With, you’ll recall, sidekick, Mr. Messenger, played by the cigarette smoking John Candy.

Brilliant.

My first article for Vancouver Magazine has published. It’s in the April issue, and it’s a look at the informal get-togethers that those who work in Vancouver’s video game sector hold.

Although these days they have been more gatherings of people who used to work in the sector, and are now job hunting.

It’s early yet, so Soho Billiards isn’t busy, even though it’s a Friday afternoon in Yaletown. Two middle-aged men – a bit old for the place – rack ’em up in one corner. Across the room, a group of developers from a nearby Web-design company gang together some tables. Even so, they have to lean over the scattered pitchers and playing cards to make themselves heard above the shouts and the music.
