John may or may not be from Cincinnati. It doesn’t matter.

The new series from Deadwood creator David Milch is a little bit Dogtown, a little bit Being There, and a lot Milch.

Set in the surfing town of Imperial Beach, on the last surf break before Mexico, it’s about a family of surfing prodigies that are infiltrated by a naive drifter who changes their lives.

There’s a bit of the supernatural in John From Cincinnati, but it just seems to belong.

For those with the pay-television channels, John From Cincinnati premieres after the series finale of The Sopranos.

I’ve seen rough cuts of the first three episodes and it is worth your time. Read more in this week’s Channel Changer.

My latest “Joystuck” column published today in Calgary’s FFWD Weekly. This issue I take a look at how video-game writers factor into the business of developing games.

The column also includes my reviews of Motorstorm and Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords.

Read all about it over here.

I love this light, airy ditty, and it’s been in my head ever since I played it for my dottir, who was wearing the outfit I purchased for her, which has the word “sweet” and a representation of a glucose molecule screened on it.

Too cute.
