The new Meta Quest 3 headset is the star attraction at this year’s Meta Connect, the developer conference for the company that got its start with Facebook.
Mark Zuckerberg revealed the new virtual reality platform during Wednesday morning’s keynote. It’s got double the graphical processing power of the predecessor and has no wires or battery pack.
The device will sell for $650 when it releases on October 10 and it will come with a copy of Asgard’s Wrath 2 (which doesn’t release until later this year). Preorders are open now.
Other games announced for the Meta Quest 3 include Lego Bricktales (a VR version) and a mixed-reality experience featuring Wallace and Gromit called Jamtastick, which is part of a broader VR game called The Grand Getaway.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus is a VR game set in Ubisoft’s world.
The second generation Ray-Ban sunglasses, meanwhile, will cost $369 and will let you stream directly from the glasses for up to four hours on a charge. The 12 MP ultra-wide camera can capture video at 1080p.
That was only the product announcements. Meta Connect is mostly sessions intended for the developer community which is building experiences for augmented, mixed, and virtual realities. The two-day affair is free to attend online through Meta’s Facebook channel. There’s one more day remaining in the program.
